That is why Ecogen are now working to try and bring about a huge amount of carbon savings. They have created a bolt-on driving device to the tractor and they are using uncomplicated technology so that they can then generate electricity. This is going to be used to run the trailer and the refrigeration unit during journeys.  They can retrofit this onto any tractor that has a PTO as well which is great news to say the least. When you break everything down, you will soon see that this is going to decrease the total carbon emissions by up to 90%. Although this does depend on the commercial operation, and the individual operation it is great to see things change so much for the better. Harmful emissions at the end of the day are going to be pumped out by the trailer and this is because it doesn’t have any filteration or capture for particulates. Regarding the questions of expenditure, the machine can be operated for as little as £10  a day and this is fantastic to say the least. It’s going to be interesting to see how things change from here.
