The Irish Road Haulage Association have described the truck trial at an airfield as being bonkers. A total of 89 lorries arrived near Ramsgate in Kent early on Monday morning and they all lined up on the runway. They are then going to make the drive along the A256 all the way to Dover. The trial is called Operation Brock. They are testing out the site and they are also holding a huge holding bay as well. The idea of this is to try and ease some of the congested roads that lead to all of the channel ports. The IRHA President, is Verona Murphy.
She has stated that the trial itself is of no help and that it is totally frivolous as well. When you look at the fact that 89 trucks have no relation to the thousands of lorries that pass through there, you will soon find that it is very difficult to believe that this can make a difference.
Of course, if you work in driver recruitment or even as part of a driving agency, you will soon find that there are a lot of changes to be made and that more needs to be done in order to get people the support they need. That being said, any changes are going to be seen as good at the moment due to the amount of lorries that are on the road. New updates will be released as soon as they happen, and it is safe to say that a lot of people are depending on them. The roads are very congested at the moment and if nothing is done then the issue is only going to get worse. This is especially the case when you look at business in the area.
